Colgate Fluor Active is an everyday toothpaste with amine fluoride. Amine fluoride is an organic fluor formula developed together with researchers from University of Zürich. Colgate Fluor Active toothpaste is well-known and used by dentists and dental hygienists all over Europe as a mild fluor dentifrice for the prevention of caries.

  • Fluor Active is without sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). Amine fluoride acts as a natural foaming agent
  • Fluor Active creates a continuous fluor coating on the tooth surface
  • Fluor Active increases the concentration of fluoride in and around the tooth
  • Fluor Active promotes remineralisation of caries
  • Fluor Active enhances resistance to acid

Product Characteristics

Product Benefits

Colgate Fluor Active contains 1400 ppm F- as the amine fluoride Olaflur. The unique position of amine fluoride is based on the special molecular structure. Amine fluoride is a tenside and consists of a positively charged hydrophilic head with a depot of fluoride ions and a hydrophobic tail.
The use of amine fluoride increases the concentration of fluoride in and around the teeth compared to sodium fluoride (2) and provides significant caries reduction compared to NaMFP toothpaste. This is the case in both the deciduous and permanent dentition (3).

The positively charged head will bind to the tooth surface and create a fluor coating all over the tooth surface, also approximally. This is in contrast to sodium fluoride that will distribute randomly in the oral cavity (1).
Colgate Fluor Active will easily form a calcium fluoride layer that will not be dissolved by saliva (4). This calcium fluoride layer is an effective fluoride depot that continuously releases small amounts of fluor to promote remineralisation (5).
